Why is Lovejoy ISD on everyone's lips??
Lovejoy ISD is comprised of most all of Fairview, more than half of Lucas, a small part of McKinney, a small part of Allen, and a few tracts of County land. Most all of the land falling within the Lovejoy ISD is zoned "minimum 2 acres" for any new platting. Some developments have some "minimum 1 acre" tracts grandfathered in.
The biggest exceptions to these "minimums" is Heritage Ranch (an active adult golf course community) and the "Planned Development" part of Fairview (between Hwy 75 and Hwy 5, between Stacy Road and Hwy 121).
Lovejoy ISD is often referred to as "The New Highland Park"!
For many years Lovejoy ISD consisted only of grades K-6. Lovejoy Elementary being the "original" school (circa 1917!), followed by Hart Elementary (2000). Secondary students went to Allen schools for grades 7-12.
All of that changed when Lovejoy Independant School District became a K-12 District with the opening of the new Lovejoy High school in 2006. The new middle school Sloan Creek Middle School and another new elementary school Puster Elementary School followed opening their doors in 2008. The first seniors will graduate from Lovejoy ISD in spring 2010.
"Lovejoy Independent School District has received the highest academic rating for the past 12 years and is the highest rated district in Collin County. In fact, for 2007 LISD was one of 27 exemplary districts, including eight charter schools, who earned the top rating in 2007. This equates to only 2.2% of the districts in Texas being rated exemplary. The District will remain Exemplary for the 2008-09 school year." Allen Star, Star Community Newspapers, 8/13/08
